Erasmus+ for recent school leavers: a traineeship abroad within a year of your diploma

Erasmus+ is not just for university students: people who have just obtained a school diploma or a vocational qualification can do a traineeship in a company in another country within a year of graduating, with a grant that covers much of the cost.

How it works, step by step

  1. 1 · Ask your school

Before your diploma, ask whether your school has Erasmus+ projects for recent graduates: many calls come out during the final year.

  2. 2 · Look for consortia in your area

Regions, training providers and school consortia also publish calls open to recent graduates in their area.

  3. 3 · Apply

Usually a CV, a motivation letter and an interview, sometimes in a foreign language.

  4. 4 · Go within a year

The traineeship must take place within 12 months of your diploma or qualification.

Questions

Is it the same Erasmus as at university?

It is part of the same programme, but it is something different: a work traineeship for people who have finished upper secondary school or a vocational course, organised by schools and training providers.

Can I do it after an ITS?

ITS Academies are part of tertiary education and often have their own mobility projects: ask your foundation.
